Div Com visits Pulwama, takes stock of COVID-19 control measures | KNO

Inspects quarantine center, 24x7 Control room

Pulwama, Apr 01 (KNO): Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K. Pole Wednesday visited Pulwama district to review the measures being taken by the district administration for prevention and control of COVID-19. He was accompanied by Director Health Services Kashmir Dr. Sameer Matoo, Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama Dr Raghav Langer, Superintendent of Police, Ashish Mishra, CMO, Pulwama besides other concerned officers of Health and other concerned departments. During the visit Divisional Commissioner visited quarantine center established in District Hospital where he interacted with the quarantined people and enquired about their wellbeing besides, enquiring doctors about the present status of quarantine and screening of the patients. He asked the concerned officials to work with dedication and ensure that all the facilities are made available to the people being quarantined at these centers. He also visited the Control Room established by the district administration at CMO Office, Pulwama and inspected the functioning of the control room. He appreciated the staff and urged them to maintain proper record of every call received at the control room and the action taken report on each and every query. On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner informed the Div Com about the Administrative arrangements put in place regarding the containment of Covid 19 including establishment of quarantine facilities, identification of buildings, security, food and water supply, bed and linen, laundry, housekeeping, sewage disposal, transportation facilities at the quarantine centers. He was also informed that seven villages Khaigam, Sangerwani, Abhama villages of Tehsil Rajpora and Gudoora, Chandgam, Pinglena and Parigam of tehsil Pulwama have been declared red zones while adjoining villages of these Tehsils have been declared buffer zones, for the of safety and well being of general public. Meanwhile, it was informed that In view of the lockdown to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 outbreak, the District Administration has also started the process of advance two months’ ration distribution in the district particularly to migrant labourers. He was also intimated that Pulwama administration has started an initiative called “Project Jazbaa” for volunteers who are willing to work to fight against the Covid 19. Later, Div Com hosted a VC session in which OSD to Financial Commissioner Health, Owais Ahmad and Deputy Commissioners participated through Video Conference. On the occasion, Divisional Commissioner stressed on dealing with the situation as per the recommended guidelines and operating procedures and said that everyone has to play their role in combating the deadly disease. He said that health officials must maintain a constant watch on cases and immediate reporting and shifting of those who might develop Covid-19 symptoms. While terming Doctors as warriors Div Com said that they are playing vital role on forefront to combat the deadly pandemic. He reiterated that the safety of medical professionals is prime concern of government and the issues related to PPE kits and other essentials would be resolved at an earliest. He impressed upon the Deputy Commissioners to initiate the cutting of Russian Popular tress which would avert the vulnerability of huge population to allergic ailments in near future. Divisional Commissioner stressed for coordination between civil administration and police officials during the process of contract tracing of COVID-19. He instructed police officials to assist the medical teams in contact tracing of suspected cases who are hiding their travel history thereby putting at risk their own lives and that of general public at large which amounts to a criminal act. He also directed to engage the officials of non essential departments for cross checking of home quarantined people to ensure their proper surveillance by surveillance teams –(KNO)
